Concerteenies: santoor/ tabla (up to 1s)
Join leading musicians in their field, John Ball (santoor) and Josie Canham-Williams (tabla) for live music with bubbles, percussion, singing and informal introductions, this is a fun and informal concert for adults and their babies (aged 0-1). ​Santoor is a one hundred string dulcimer-like instrument which originated in the Kashmir region of India before being popularised in Indian Classical Music in the mid-twentieth century. John Ball (santoor) is a dedicated and experienced performer and teacher of North Indian music specialising in santoor and tabla. He has been Musician in Residence at the University of Sheffield since 2008. As a performer, he regularly accompanies high profile Indian Classical, vocalists and instrumentalists (including Jarvis Cocker, Richard Hawley, Sura Susso and Juldeh Camara) and has previously featured at major festivals including WOMAD, Edinburgh Festival and London Jazz.  Josie Canham-Williams (tabla) is an emerging talent in the field of tabla playing. Having studied tabla at the University of Sheffield she is now based in London and regularly performing as an​ accompanist. TICKETS  Babies free/ adults £6/ 2 adult offer £10 (in advance) and £7 per adult/ £12 for couples (on the door - if any tickets are left). When booking your ticket, please state the number of free baby spaces too. Most concerts sell out before the day so do check the Facebook Concerteenies page or email pollyjives@hotmail.com, *** Please note this session is specifically for babies up to 1 year old/ non-movers. Dancing in the Ballroom Tea Dances

We are pleased to say that the Ballroom at Sheffield City Hall still maintains its traditional format with various dances taking place throughout the month. The Ballroom is brought to life with couples quickstepping and waltzing around the art deco room and the tea dances at City Hall remain as popular as ever. 

The stunning Arches Bar is open throughout the duration of the tea dances, and serves a range of food and drink.
